Bines injured: Where do we go from here?
Ryan D'Imperio's injury during spring practice put a significant crimp in head coach Greg Schiano's plan for middle linebacker. Now that training camp is almost finished, Schiano has yet to wrinkle out all the details at the starting spot. Yesterday's injury to Blair Bines may have just added one more fold to the mix. So where does Schiano go from here?
Chris Quaye started off training camp running with the first team, then Bines gradually started to take more reps. As of late, Damaso Munoz has been seeing the most action in the middle. Schiano also has the option of switching Brendon Renkart from strong side to middle. Jim Dumont's runs have remained with the second team and farther down the line are freshmen Manny Abreu and Antonio Lowery.
Schiano has reiterated from the beginning of training camp that he is just looking to find the best three players to play at linebacker. Kevin Malast and Brandon Renkart have long since solidified their positions, however that third player still remains a mystery.
