NU Notes: Lucky returns to the practice field
Junior running back Marlon Lucky returned to the practice field on Thursday after being out since last Saturday with a head injury.
Running backs coach Randy Jordan said Lucky was only used at a limited basis on Thursday, but it was still good to get him back out there.
"It was great," Jordan said of Lucky's return. "It was good moral for my running backs. We've got some young kids that kind of look up to (Lucky) since they met him on their recruiting visits, so he helped us get those guys.
"Having him out there helping us teach those kids like Quentin (Castille) and Roy (Helu) and Marcus
(Mendoza) is a real moral boost for our group. So hopefully he can continue to do the things he needs to do for the season."
Jordan added that there's no doubt in his mind Lucky will be ready for NU's season opener against Nevada on Sept. 1.
"He did as much as he coach and as much as he was allowed to," Jordan said. "Hopefully we can get more out of him and more out of him each day. I'm sure he'll be ready to go by that first game."
