NU Notes: Culbert would like to move back to safety
When Nebraska was preparing for the Cotton Bowl in December, sophomore Major Culbert really had no choice but to move from safety to running back.
NU was down to only one healthy I-back at that time, so Culbert was forced to make a late season switch to add some depth for the Cotton Bowl.
The move at that time was only supposed to be temporary, but once Brandon Jackson went pro and Kenny Wilson went down with a season ending leg injury, Culbert was forced to stay at running back for the spring.
As the Huskers wrapped up day two of fall camp on Tuesday, Culbert made it pretty clear that he would like his future to be at safety, but he'll continue to work at running until NU gets things situated with freshmen backs Quentin Castille, Roy Helu and Marcus Mendoza.
"I want to play safety to tell you the truth," Culbert said. "But when Kenny went down earlier last year, I played running back in the bowl game and I did pretty well, so they kept me here. I also played running back in high school, so if I keep being consistent every day, good things will happen to me."
