Incoming receivers will battle for playing time
South Carolina wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier, Jr. will have 10 scholarship receivers at his disposal when fall camp opens Saturday night.
Seven will be freshmen or sophomores. Just one - Mike West - is a senior.
Here's the kicker: despite their relative youth, most of them are pretty good.
In fact, the wide receiver position is overflowing with so much talent that sophomore Jared Cook (6 receptions for 113 yards in 2006) has been shifted back to tight end after spending spring practice as a wide out.
Spurrier, Jr. couldn't hide his exuberance Monday when he spoke with reporters about the bountiful harvest of wide receivers looking to carve their niche into the program.
