Owens steps into a leadership role
Georgia lost two of their top five defensive tackles from 2006 because they were seniors. This year, defensive line coach [db]Rodney Garner[/db] will try to find five or six quality defensive tackles to play 20 to 30 snaps a game. The one really experienced defensive tackle returning this year is junior [db]Jeff Owens[/db].
After working hard all summer, Owens is awaiting the opening of fall camp and Georgia's first practice.
"Summer workouts have been going pretty well. August is almost here and I am ready to start hitting again," said Owens.
