A true game changer
The class of 2008 is still months away from putting its name on the letters of intent, but already there is much speculation about who might be the best player in the state of Texas for the 2009 group. Guys like Russell Shepard, Garret Gilbert and Chris Whaley have dominated most of the early talk, but there is one lightly discussed prospect that many think could be the best of the bunch.
It's time that recruiting fans began to get acquainted with Jamarcus McFarland. The Lufkin defensive tackle is considered by some to be one of the top prospects at his position that the state of Texas has seen in the past decade, and college coaches were drawn to the Panthers' practice field in the spring to get a closer look.
McFarland lists Texas, Florida, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Kansas State among the many schools that are sending literature.
