FSU's Major League Baseball Draft Preview
When Florida State's baseball season concluded on Sunday evening, attention immediately turned to the 2008 and what Mike Martin's squad will look like when the first pitch is thrown in late February. Before then, what happens in the Major League Baseball Draft, which begins today and continues through June 8th, could dramatically alter the expected roster.
Warchant.com takes a look at the seniors and juniors that are eligible for the 2007 MLB Draft as well as what incoming freshmen that may decide to bypass their collegiate career.
Patrick Ebert of Perfect Game USA and Brewerfan.net gave his evaluations on some of the current Florida State players and signees that are in the 2007 MLB Draft.
RHP Bryan Henry - Bryan Henry concluded his senior season with back-to-back losses but had an amazing season while earning a number of national honors. Henry finished the season 14-2 in 18 appearances with a 2.60 ERA in a 117 2/3 innings of work. Henry struck out 117 while walking only 27 while opponents hit only .238 against him. Henry displays excellent control but does not have dominant stuff on the mound. His consistency over his career at Florida State though should help him find a spot in a later round on the second day.
Ebert's take: "Successful college seniors always improve their draft status."
