Jeremy Ito: A leg you can count on

ScarletNation.com There are many times when the outcome of a game rests on a single leg. With expectations higher than ever in Piscataway, splitting the uprights at the end of a game this Fall could mean a BCS bid. Luckily for Scarlet Knight fans, Rutgers begins its drive for the BCS with veteran Jeremy Ito at place-kicker.
"Having played in over thirty-some odd games really boosts my confidence," said the Californian. "I'm ready for the high-pressure situations."
Ito will not only be responsible for late game dramatics, but he might also be called upon to help win the battle of field position. Ito has slid into the spot of punter vacated by Joe Radigan. That could change in the summer when junior college punter Teddy Dellaganna joins the mix, but coach Greg Schiano is confident that Ito will be ready if needed.
"Jeremy's doing very well adjusting. I think he'll be just fine at both positions," Schiano said.
Punting is nothing new to Ito. He was a standout punter in high school, averaging 40.3 yards per punt his senior season. In preparation for the double duties, Ito talked about his off-season training.
