Graham working on bigger field presence
The following is a question and answer with University of Wisconsin sophomore tight end Garrett Graham. With senior tight end Andy Crooks out this spring with a shoulder injury, Graham has played as the third tight end, coming in for junior Travis Beckum or sophomore Mickey Turner.
How is the spring going so far?
Graham: It's going good. I've been trying to improve my game in every way possible, and so far I think I've been doing that.
You say you're trying to improve your game, what are some of the specifics of that, maybe some goals you came into the spring with?
Graham: Blocking especially. Working on my blocking, my steps, pretty much the basics of blocking and just knowing the offense better, I mean running crisper routes. That's pretty much it.
Before the spring started you had winter conditioning, what sorts of things did you do to improve you body?
Graham: Just really lifting, doing what our lifting coaches say. I've been trying to lift a lot of weight, but it's really hard to put weight on my body. I've been drinking like three protein shakes a day. So far I'm putting it on slow, but I'm putting it on a little, so as much as I can do to help.
What are you up to now?
Graham: I'm about 230, 232, around there. It fluctuates every day.
