Irish quarterbacks both teammates, rivals
At least they're honest about it.
Talk to the main characters in Notre Dame's quarterback drama and they won't spit stock lines for the sake of public relations. The fledgling foursome - Demetrius Jones, Zach Frazer, Jimmy Clausen and Evan Sharpley - might be teammates, but that doesn't mean they tuck in each other's shoulder pads.
They all want the same thing, to replace Brady Quinn under center. Only one will actually do it.
Ask Jones if his spring goal is to enter the summer as Notre Dame's No. 1 quarterback.
"Yes sir, no doubt about it," he'll reply.
Ask Frazer if there's a fine line between being a teammate in the huddle and an adversary on the depth chart.
"You don't want to hate each other because then you're just going to have the wrong kind of competition," he'll say.
