Spring Position Battles - Tight End
One could argue that through the Hayden Fry and Kirk Ferentz eras, no position has more of a tradition of success than tight end. Through the years, Iowa has not only had plenty of All Big Ten performers, but many have moved on to successful careers in the NFL.
The next player in that line of greatness could me the man set to take center stage this season, Tony Moeaki.
The Hawkeyes generally play three and sometimes four players at the tight end position during each and every game, so the losses of Scott Chandler and Ryan Majerus to graduation will certainly be felt.
But, Iowa will certainly have a player who just oozes potential ready to take the lead role in Tony Moeaki. No question that in the past two seasons, Chandler has been a favorite target of Drew Tate.
With both players moving on due to graduation, the era of Christensen to Moeaki will get underway this fall. While Moeaki has had a bit of an up and down two years when it comes to catching the ball, this season shapes up to be a breakout one for the former prep All American.
