Smith, Rodriguez filling the void
Auburn has most of the pieces on offense including a senior quarterback, a stable of experienced and talented tailbacks and perhaps the SEC's top group of tight ends.
But if the Tigers are going to return to an explosive offense this fall, they need a couple of receivers to step up and replace Courtney Taylor who finished his career as AU's all-time leading receiver.
"You're always going to miss a guy like Courtney Taylor," said AU receivers coach Greg Knox. "You miss his leadership and you miss his ability on the field."
Fortunately for Knox, he has two candidates who are stepping up this fall to fill Taylor's shoes in junior Rod Smith and senior Prechae Rodriguez.
Knox is especially pleased with Smith's play this spring.
