Spring Preview: QBs
Texas A&M enters the spring practice season with a clear cut No. 1 at quarterback in sophomore Stephen McGee. After starting every game in 2006 McGee has a stranglehold on the position - for now.
If McGee is to have any competition it won't come until the summer when redshirt freshman Jerrod Johnson rejoins the team. Johnson had a wonderful year on the practice field, which makes some wonder if he could push McGee.
But since Johnson will be playing basketball in March, and for Aggie fans hopefully well into March, McGee will have the position all to himself in the spring.
And that is something not to be overlooked. McGee needs a solid spring to show that his arm strength is where it once was, and that his arm is healthy enough to lead a Big 12 conference contender.
With redshirt freshman Jamie McCoy moving to receiver and senior Ty Branyon graduating, the backup role will be up for grabs with Johnson on the hardwood. Leading the chase will be junior T.J. Sanders.
