Jourdan Brooks: Good things come to those who wait
A winter storm may have delayed the celebration at Seneca Valley High School, but it didn't keep five seniors from signing documents that would fulfill childhood dreams of playing college football. On Friday afternoon those seniors celebrated with family and friends in front of local media.
Among the players signing letters of intent was star player Jourdan Brooks. The big, muscular running back who surprised many with his choice of Rutgers University over the likes of Tennessee, Oklahoma, and others was the first to sign his documents.
It was a long and at times difficult path that Brooks took to get to this point. Realizing that he had the talent to be a scholarship football player, Seneca Valley head coach Fred Kim came to Brooks and his parents at the end of his senior season in 2005 and told them of an unusual opportunity that he had available to him.
