Utes will add walk-on safety
With all the talk of signings tapering off, it's now time to put the walk-on class under the microscope, starting with Davis HS (Kaysville, Utah) safety Chaz Walker (6-foot, 181). Under the radar for most of the recruiting season, Walker had also been eying the Utes as a possible destination. After an unofficial visit early in the '06 season however, news became scarce and an official offer never materialized.
It's no secret that the Utes are going to be hurting at the safety position this year, particularly with the losses of Eric Weddle and Casey Evans. It's also been reiterated recently that recruiting the state of Utah is the number one priority for coach Kyle Whittingham, and the Utes may have just found their next Casey Evans.
Considering all the variables, the opportunities available by walking on at Utah were too good to pass up for the Davis safety.
