Memphis (Tenn.) Ridgeway defensive end Dasmine Cathey has decided to stay close to home to play college football.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder committed to Memphis following his official visit to the school last weekend.

"I wanted to go to Memphis from the get-go," he said. "I picked them because it is my home school and I didn't want to leave home."

He also considered Mississippi State. Cathey is the second Ridgeway defensive end to commit to a Division I-A program. Lagrone Shields has committed to Colorado.
