Carlson goes down, Freeman steps up

Fresh off watching John Carlson go down with a serious right knee injury, one likely to end the senior tight end's regular season, the Notre Dame head coach turned a potentially emotional moment into a matter-of-fact event. Weis' message was clear, when the starter goes down, the back-up must step up.
