Nine lineup changes dot Rod's early lineup card
MORGANTOWN--Nine lineup changes were published in a pre-game media release by the WVU Sports Communications office on Monday, and though head coach Rich Rodriguez said none of them were set this early in the week, he admitted:
"We're trying to bring some competition and it's open---it's open positions."
"Coach Rod has always said it's open competition for every position and I think he's sticking by that," said senior middle linebacker Jay Henry.
Seven of the eight starting positions were on defense, while placekicker Pat McAfee has nudged ahead of regular punter Scott Kozlowski in that department.
"That's going to be a battle between him and Scotty this week. That will probably be a gametime decision," said the head coach in a Monday night media event.
The change was precipitated, "probably moreso in practice and what we've been seeing. Scotty didn't punt the ball well in the last game, but the way Pat has been punting in practice has been really impressive."
