Brown's focus pays off with playing time
Tragedy creates opportunity. That's a fact of big-time college football we learn each and every year. Adrian Peterson's broken collarbone has opened up opportunities for Allen Patrick and Jacob Gutierrez.
But on Saturday, Peterson's absence also opened up opportunities for true freshman Chris Brown, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound grinder from Alexandria, La.
Brown's time was short but productive. His four carries resulted in 12 yards and one touchdown which capped off the scoring in the Sooners' 24-3 victory over Colorado on Sunday.
On a blistery and cold day, Brown quietly did his job, but also made a statement to begin his Oklahoma career.
"I tried to make it more like practice than anything," Brown said. "I've been doing pretty good in practice so I tried to make it just like practice."
Brown's practice habits were the reason he was able to find opportunity instead of the often talked about Mossis Madu.
