Shaking off the rust
Day Two of practice broke with the players and coaches feeling good about the beginning of camp. The best news of the first two days is that everyone reported to camp in great shape and there have been no major injuries to report.
The biggest scare came yesterday when backup defensive end Greg Newman grabbed his ankle in pain after being roughly thrown to the turf by tackle Dustin Hensel in team drills. Newman sprained his ankle on the play, although the severity isn't known. All indications are that he will be back before the end of camp.
"The unit is impressive," offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig said of the offense. "We've got a young, talented group. We've got good speed all over the field, and the players reported in very good shape. That is showing on the field right now."
