Playing time a reality for freshmen
Call it a sense of urgency or simply a case of opportunity knocking, but the focus for Florida State's highly touted freshman class is squarely on the immediate future.
As in, how quickly can some of the new football players help on the field this fall?
And nowhere does that question beg an answer more than at receiver and tight end, where the depth chart will need some immediate help from newcomers.
"In our offense, there is always an opportunity for playing time," FSU tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator John Lilly said. "Traditionally, we have always played a lot of guys."
Receivers Preston Parker and Damon McDaniel and tight end Caz Piurowski were three of the freshmen who arrived on campus last week for orientation. They were joined by all but three players from their signing class - receiver Brent Brewer, tight end Brandon Warren and linebacker Tim Rawlinson.
