Does A&M lead?
You would think living in the neighborhood of a D-I school might give you an edge when it comes to getting a scholarship offer from that institution.
But in the case of College Station (Texas) A&M Consolidated wide receiver Detron Lewis that, as of now, is not the case. Oh, he has offers all right - eight of them and counting - but none of them have 'Texas A&M' on the letterhead.
Even without an A&M offer, the 6-foot-0, 190-pound Lewis has plenty of options to choose from.
He's currently holding offers from the likes of Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Utah, UTEP, Arkansas, Kansas and Kansas State. Lewis said he's planning on making official visits this fall to two of those schools - Nebraska and Oklahoma State - and trying to get to July camps at both Texas A&M and UTEP.
