Irish camp draws top prospects
Summer camp used to be the unofficial kickoff to the recruiting season. But those days are gone.
Last year at this time Notre Dame had eight verbal commitments and this year the Irish have collected seven verbal pledges. Though it's obvious that there has been a change in recruiting philosophies, the summer camps are still important for evaluating players and finding diamonds in the rough.
This year, the first of Notre Dame's camp sessions included about 60 players from across the Midwest. Several of those players have been on the Irish recruiting radar for quite some time.
Ohio linebacker prospect Andrew Dailey is one player that hoped a strong showing at camp would improve his chances of landing an offer from the Irish.
