Tate dealing with recruiting
After receiving letter after letter, prospects are now seeing coaches come by their school and are having a conversation with them on the phone as the spring evaluation hits full stride.
For Hendersonville, Tenn., Pope John Paul II High School athlete Golden Tate the increase in recruiting is exciting, but is also challenging.
"It's pretty cool," Tate said of the process. "But it is also confusing. You hear so many different things and right now I don't know for sure what some schools are recruiting me to do. Some just say athlete. Some say wide receiver. I would like to be a half back because that is where I think I can help the most. But I will play wherever a coach wants me to play. It is just confusing right now because I am not sure where that is."
Tate said most schools at this point are talking to him about playing receiver over other positions. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Tate was supposed to be at the Nike Camp in Athens, Georgia this past weekend to try and further show schools his skills, but he did not make that trip.
"My mom made me stay at home and take the ACT," Tate said.
