Notre Dame visit excites Barksdale
Despite visiting campus barely one month ago, defensive tackle Joseph Barksdale of Detroit, Mich., came away impressed by the events and attendance at the Notre Dame Blue-Gold scrimmage this weekend.
"It was fun," he said. "It was a new experience. I didn't know that Notre Dame had that much of a fan base and that many people were into ND football, so it opened my eyes."
The 41,279 fans that attended the scrimmage impressed the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder but he was most interested in the "Bus" parked on the Notre Dame sideline. Jerome Bettis, a former Irish standout and future NFL Hall of Famer, was one of four honorary coaches used by the Irish during the scrimmage.
"I had the chance to meet him," Barksdale said. "We're both from Detroit. It was great."
