Illinois looking to improve after rough 2012 season
Nebraska will open its Big Ten Conference schedule against a team it has yet to face since joining the league in 2011, as Illinois comes to Lincoln on Oct. 5 for the first meeting with the Huskers since 1986.
The debut season of head coach Tim Beckman was certainly one to forget for the Fighting Illini last year, as they finished dead last in the Big Ten at 2-10 overall and 0-8 in league play. After losing some key players but still returning some decent talent on both sides of the ball, Illinois is focused on turning around a program that has lost 16 of its past 18 games.
