LSU takes series in Starkville
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Long balls once again aided LSU as the third-ranked Tigers claimed its SEC-opening series against Mississippi State with a 7-3 victory.
Both teams collected 10 hits in the contest but it was LSU who capitalized on those opportunities clubbing their fourth and fifth homers of the series and took advantage of three Bulldog errors.
"The game just keeps finding the new components of our club that are unsettled," said MSU skipper John Cohen . "I'm disappointed in the way that we played and disappointed in the way we defended."
The Tigers won their 12th straight game and improved to 18-1 overall. Raph Rhymes led LSU at the plate going 2-for-4 with two singles while Jacoby Jones went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.
