Bulldogs complete sweep of St. Joseph's

BulldogBlitz.com STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State's bats simply never were able to consistently solve St. Joseph's soft-tossing righty Daniel Thorpe in game two on Sunday.
But the fifth-ranked Bulldogs were able to scrape together two runs in the bottom of the third which turned out to be enough as MSU's pitching staff shutout the Hawks 2-0 to sweep the four-game weekend series.
"We didn't put up the type of offense that we would have liked to but I think the story of the weekend is our bullpen and what those guys did for us," said MSU skipper John Cohen.
Will Cox, Preston Brown, Chad Girodo, Myles Gentry and Jonathan Holder combined for the shutout on the mound in the nightcap. The five hurlers combined for 13 strikeouts and only one walk as the Diamond Dogs remained undefeated at 15-0 on the year.
"I think everybody has a good idea of what they are going to be doing (on the pitching staff)," Gentry said. "They know when they are going to come in and in what kind of situation. We're on a roll now, we've just got to keep it going."
