The road to Omaha begins today for Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs have been ranked as high as No. 5 in the preseason polls and open their 123rd campaign this afternooon at 4 p.m. for a four-game weekend series with Portland.

State modified their schedule due to expected chilly temperatures this weekend. They will play a single game on Saturday at 2 p.m. and a Sunday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.

This will be the first ever meeting between the two programs on the diamond. The Diamond Dogs are 4-5 all-time against teams from the West Coast Conference.
