Tigers lead for JUCO linebacker
AUBURN -- Kenny Flowers has a new leader in the race to earn his signature in February.
That leader is Auburn.
The three-star linebacker said Sunday that he was impressed with what the Tigers have to offer. Flowers, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 225 pounds, said it's down to Auburn, Texas Tech and Arkansas.
" I could see myself being here," he said. "I know the whole football thing is going to turn around and I know the new coaching staff is going to do a good job. The possibility of me committing here is really high."
Flowers committed to Texas A&M in November and planned to enroll early in College Station. That plan was scrubbed, however, and the inside linebacker now is aiming to enroll at his next school in May.
Defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson told Flowers that he'd be an ideal complement to what Auburn hopes to accomplish next fall. Flowers said he enjoyed being around Johnson this weekend.
