Sooners Face Series of Surprising Weekends
The Sooners 41-13 loss to Texas A&M may have been the end of the football season but it marked the beginning of a mad dash to National Signing Day on Feb. 6 that now stands at just over four weeks away.
The first bit of news emerged on Sunday evening when word leaked out that long-time Sooners commitment Jordan Mastrogiovanni had a change of heart and decided to pledge his future to Oklahoma's Cotton Bowl tormentor, Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies.
It just felt like the better fit for me," Mastrogiovanni of Dallas Jesuit said on Sunday night.
The three-star linebacker, at 6-foot-3 and 225-pounds, was the lone true inside linebacker recruit in the class and is a tough loss but it is somewhat lessened by in-state linebacker commitments Dominique Alexander and Jordan Evans. The trio visited for Oklahoma's final visit weekend of the 2012 calendary year - Dec. 14 and both of his position mates were surprised by it.
"I thought he was solid, he seemed 'All-OU'," Evans said of their time together during the visit weekend.
