Back to the Gator Bowl

BulldogBlitz.com Mississippi State rang in 2011 in impressive fashion by demolishing Michigan 52-14 in the Gator Bowl.
Now the Bulldogs will head back to Jacksonville looking for the same results after accepting an invitation to the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl once again. MSU will be pitted against Big Ten opponent Northwestern on New Year's Day at noon.
The bowl big will be the 16th in the Bulldogs history and are currently tied for the nation's longest active bowl winning streak at five games while Northwestern has the nation's longest active losing streak at nine straight bowl defeats.
State is 9-6 all-time in bowl appearance while the Wildcats are 1-9.
The Bulldogs earned bowl eligibility with an 8-4 regular season while Northwestern went 9-3 including a 5-3 mark inside the Big Ten. The Wildcats only bowl game victory came in the 1949 Rose Bowl 20-14 over California.
