One last game for Lawrence
Cameron Lawrence was one of Mississippi's top quarterback prospects for the class of 2009.
The former Dandy Dozen selection was a standout on both sides of the ball for Magnolia Heights but never once believed he would be an All-SEC caliber linebacker at the next level.
"I'm surprised," Lawrence said. "Looking back to high school I was 185-pounds and never thought I'd be an SEC linebacker. I got in Coach (Matt) Balis' program, packed on some pounds, just let what happens happen and filled into a pretty good linebacker."
The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder has led Mississippi State in tackles in each of the past two seasons from his outside linebacker position.
But it has not always been that way.
Lawrence began his career for the Bulldogs as a quarterback after graduating early in the spring of 2009. From there he shifted to wide receiver and settled in at safety and contributed on special teams as a true freshman.
