NOTEBOOK: Pelton still aims to inspire DL
AUBURN -- Mike Pelton knows the Tigers' defensive front, along with the entire defense, hasn't performed up to standard this season.
That doesn't mean he's any less proud of his players.
The 1995 Auburn graduate said Wednesday that his most important role as an assistant coach is to pass along the values he learned as a player. Those values are as relevant now as they were nearly two decades ago.
"(The defense) is not where you'd like it to be, but those kids have worked the whole time," Pelton said. "I don't know how to put words with it. They've done a great job of coming to work in the conditions we're in right now. Those kids came to work every day. When I was playing, we went through a time like this. It's been tough, but I fully accept it. I'll keep working with these kids and get them through this season."
