Fall catching preview
If last spring was any indication, Mississippi State has nothing to worry about behind the plate.
Junior college transfer Mitch Slauter came in and was a fixture at catcher for the Bulldogs starting 62 of a possible 64 games. But according to head coach John Cohen help is on the way to lighten the load for Slauter this year.
"Mitch Slauter is one of the real warriors in college baseball with the amount of games consecutively he caught, especially in the postseason," Cohen said.
Slauter started every game from March 16th through the remainder of the season throwing out 13 of 38 on stolen base attempts. The rising senior also hit .232 last spring with 10 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 23 RBIs.
