Daniels' plan pays off
Travis Daniels signed with Tennessee-Martin coming out of Russellville, Ala., High School.
But the 6-foot-8, 205-pounder was not satisfied and believed he could do better. So Daniels took a chance by enrolling at Shelton State Community College and on Tuesday night the gamble paid off.
Daniels got the offer he'd been looking for from Mississippi State on an unofficial visit and decided to commit to head coach Rick Ray.
"I signed with Tennessee-Martin out of high school but I thought if I went the JUCO route I might could get something better," Daniels said. "I had some bigger schools looking at me out of high school but they backed off and I ended up signing with Tennesee-Martin. I ended up going to junior college and it all paid off I guess."
Daniels is the second member of the Bulldogs 2013 class joining three-star point guard Imara Ready. He committed to MSU over other offers from Southern Miss, Western Kentucky and Wichita State.
