Wallace emerging as new threat at QB
AUBURN -- It's becoming clear that Jonathan Wallace isn't destined to be a fleeting fad.
He was a revelation against LSU last weekend - at least as revelatory as a Wildcat quarterback can be in his college debut. Wallace rushed three times for 15 yards, but offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler thought enough of his freshman to leave him in for an important 3rd-and-1 late in the game.
Wallace gained six yards. He overachieved.
Coach Gene Chizik was impressed by how the newcomer responded to pressure situations against the nation's second-ranked team.
"He's a very confident young guy," Chizik said. "He picks things up well, he makes good decisions. He's a tough kid. All those things together gave us confidence that he could get into a game, right now in a limited role, and be productive. And he was."
