Hard work pays off for Brown
Ryan Brown was promised by defensive coordinator Chris Wilson that if he worked hard upon arriving at Mississippi State that he would have a chance to see the field early in his career.
Brown was one of four high school defensive ends that the Bulldogs signed in February but was the first to see the field. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder did just as Wilson asked and has appeared in both games already this year.
"Coach Wilson actually told me that if I continue to work hard and keep God first good things will happen to me," Brown said. "So I just continued down that road and looked to the people in front of me and tried to play like them. I know I need to continue getting better each day."
Brown notched four tackles in his debut against Jackson State and broke up a pass against Auburn.
Naturally making the transition from Class 4A high school football into the SEC is not easy. But Brown seems to have not only adapted but developed quickly.
