State rallies behind Stratton
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Another stellar Chris Stratton start ended in a no decision Thursday night.
But the Mississippi State junior right-hander didn't care.
Stratton, who tossed nine innings and allowed only one run, was just happy his Bulldogs were able to pull out a 2-1 walk-off win in the bottom of the 11th over Tennessee to kickoff Super Bulldog Weekend.
"I'll take a no decision every outing as long as we win," Stratton said.
Stratton struck out 10 batters and walked none while scattering four hits. The lone run he surrendered came on a two-out strikeout that got away from the catcher in the 8th inning.
"I just thought he was phenomenal and just competed his heart out for us," said MSU skipper John Cohen.
MSU (22-16, 6-10) snapped their four-game losing streak in the bottom of the 11th when Trey Porter doubled off the wall to lead off the inning. Luis Pollorena pinch ran for Porter and slid safely in at third following a bunt by Wes Rea. Drew Steckenrider then intentionally walked C.T. Bradford loading the bases with no outs.
