Long weekend ahead for injured Dogs
It's going to be a long weekend for Mississippi State.
And it has very little to do with facing the back-to-back national champion South Carolina Gamecocks.
The Diamond Dogs flight to Columbia, S.C. tonight was cancelled due to engine trouble so following a Thursday morning practice at Dudy Noble Field the team will make the eight-plus hour trip on a bus.
There will be some empty seats however. Sophomore pitcher Ben Bracewell and redshirt freshman infielder/ outfielder Demarcus Henderson will both be absent from the travel roster due to injury.
Bracewell has only thrown one inning on the mound since March 2 and made only four appearances on the mound this season spanning 11.1 innings. Bracewell threw a bullpen session this week and head coach John Cohen is planning to use him in middle relief duty against Ole Miss during the annual Governor's Cup game in Pearl, Miss., on Tuesday.
As for Henderson, he broke one of his fingers Tuesday night against South Alabama and is expected to miss two weeks of action.
