Dogs win midweek affair from Alcorn St.
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State may have won Tuesday's contest with instate opponent Alcorn State 6-2 but it was not the type of victory John Cohen was exactly pleased with.
The Bulldogs fourth year head coach was not happen with the execution and focus of some of his players during the midweek affair.
"We did not play well tonight and it showed," Cohen said. "We had about four situational things that we did not handle at all. We looked shocked that they were happening on a first and third, on a popup behind the plate, on a popup to centerfield. We've got to get these things fixed. You can't play good defense on the weekends and then just expect to survive in the middle of the week."
MSU (17-9) committed a pair of errors in the contest, one of which led to both of the Braves runs which were unearned.
The Diamond Dogs totaled seven hits on the evening and drew nine walks and were hit three times.
Shortstop Adam Frazier reached base in all five at bats after earning four free passes along with a single, two stolen bases and scored twice.
