Bulldogs shutout on Saturday
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Friday night Mississippi State's offense jumped all over Arkansas scoring eight runs in their first four at bats.
But Saturday was a completely different story.
The third-ranked Razorbacks stifled the Bulldogs bats allowing just three hits in a 8-0 shutout to even the weekend series.
Arkansas sophomore Ryne Stanek was brilliant on the mound improving to 6-0 on the season. Stanek went 6 1/3 innings giving up three hits, striking out six, walking two and hitting one.
"We faced one of the best guys in our league and really just didn't put our noses in there and fight," said MSU skipper John Cohen. "That's what's disappointing. To beat a guy like that on the mound you have to fight and you have to score one or two runs and hope you defend and pitch it good enough to keep the score at that level and we just didn't do that."
The Hogs (21-3, 4-1) had 14 hits on the afternoon led by third baseman Matt Reynolds, who went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
