Seeding for the SEC Tournament begins today for Mississippi State and will continue over the next 10 weeks.
The 21st ranked Diamond Dogs begin conference play at 7 p.m. tonight at No. 10 LSU beginning a three-game weekend in their first ever action in the new Alex Box Stadium.
MSU owns a 201-166-1 all-time record against the Tigers. LSU however own the better mark in Baton Rouge leading 92-76 and have won the past five series overall. The two teams closed out the regular season last year in Starkville with the Tigers taking two of the three games outscoring State 28-10 on the weekend.
John Cohen's club is off to the same start as a season ago at 14-5, which is also their best beginning to the year since winning 18-straight to open 2006.
The Bulldogs however have dropped two straight games being swept by Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday and Wednesday in their first road action of the year. Despite outhitting the Lions 21-15 over the two games they fell 4-3 and 5-1 after stranding 21 runners and were just 2-of-24 with runners in scoring position in the series.
