Paranoid About Penn State?
EAST LANSING - Water cooler bragging rights are in full order for Michigan State fans less than 24 hours after their team's decisive 64-54 victory over in-state rival Michigan.
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo and his staff have turned their full attention to Penn State. At 10-14 overall and 2-9 in the league, the Nittany Lions are the lone team in the Big Team with a record under .500.
But the Penn State basketball team under the guidance of first-year head coach Patrick Chambers are a dangerous opponent, especially given where the game lies on Michigan State's schedule.
"It is a big concern for me," Izzo said. "Everybody knows where it is coming off the game with Michigan and too many people want to talk about Ohio State. The truth of the matter is that Penn State is a completely different team and it is going to be hard for coaches because it is a whole different system now. It is going to be hard for players because they will look at their 2-9 record and not realize that they have played some pretty good ball."
