Hodge willing to move, but wants shot at QB
Khadarel Hodge knows most college coaches view him as a wide receiver, and he's willing to listen to them when they advise a position change.
However, the quarterback from Mendenhall, Miss., isn't ready to give up the dream of working under center at the college level.
"I'd rather play quarterback, but if it doesn't work out as I have planned, I'll look into receiver a little bit," Hodge said. "Most people tell me I'll be a receiver or a safety.
"I look at myself as more of a Michael Vick-type quarterback more than a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning-type quarterback. I'd be more comfortable with a spread offense."
Hodge, a 6-foot-1, 180-pounder, attended Ole Miss' junior day last weekend. He was accompanied on his trip to Oxford by his cousin, former Rebel star Shay Hodge.
"He said it's a good school and I probably should look into it a little bit," Hodge said, adding he made several trips to Oxford to see his cousin during his career with the Rebels. "The games, they were live. Most of them were SEC ball games. It was packed and I liked it.
"I don't see it as a factor or (anything), but it really got my name out here a little bit just because he played here."
Hodge said he's also hearing from Mississippi State and Southern Miss, adding he plans to attend the Bulldogs' junior day on Feb. 11. Hodge said he wants to see what the coaching staffs at different schools are all about.
"I want to see what kind of guys they are," Hodge said. "Are they good guys? I want to see if they can help me get where I want to be."
