Bulldogs coming off rollercoaster week
Last week was a rollercoaster ride for Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs dropped their second straight road game during the midweek - to their instate rivals nonetheless - but managed to close the week out with big overtime victory at Vanderbilt on Saturday.
MSU erased an 11-point halftime deficit in Nashville scoring 14 straight points early in the second half for the 78-77 win in overtime. The Bulldogs also overcame a hot shooting night by Vandy where they hit 14 3-pointers.
"They shot pretty well," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "They were 14-of-27 and were above 50-percent in there. It wasn't that we caught them on a bad night or a night where they couldn't make shots. We were very fortunate to get out of there. We had a six point lead in regulation with a minute something to go and Vandy hit two huge three's. That's a difficult place to play and Vanderbilt has a very good team. Offensively they are always good and I think defensively this is one of the better team's (Kevin Stallings) has had with their ability to guard the perimeter and (Festus) Ezeli on the inside. To get out of there was a huge win for us. Unfortunately that only counts as one 'W' so we've got to get ready for another huge one this week."
The Bulldogs will LSU at Humphrey Coliseum Wednesday night before hitting the road once again for a Saturday meeting with Florida.
