Gall will check out Ohio State

Even with the class of 2012 coming to a climactic finish for the Ohio State football team, there is still plenty of attention being paid to the 2013 class. The Buckeyes are set to have a couple of junior days over the next few weeks and will be hosting many of Ohio's top prospects during that time. One prospect that is sure to attend is Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller offensive lineman Alex Gall. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound prospect is eager to meet the new staff that head coach Urban Meyer has assembled.
"I'm going up to Ohio State for their junior day," explained Gall. "Coach (Tim) Hinton was previously recruiting me at Notre Dame and he wants me to come up there and meet the new staff and everything. I'm anxious to meet the new staff and find out who he's brought in, who's leaving, and who's staying and just find out what's happening. I'd also like to see the facilities. I've seen some of them but I'd like to see everything."
The junior day visit will be Gall's first chance to meet Meyer as well as many of the new assistant coaches at Ohio State. Gall's early impressions of Meyer have been all positive.
"I wasn't too surprised that he went (to Ohio State)," Gall said. "I knew that he was from there and it seemed like he was going to go there for a while. I was glad to see him go there and I think it's going to be a good thing for them. I've heard great things from some of my friends' older brothers that were recruited by him and they said that he's so inspirational. I've just heard that he's such a great coach and I'm anxious to meet him."
Two Ohio State assistants that Gall is familiar with are Hinton and new offensive line coach Ed Warinner. Gall had a chance to meet Warinner when he was coaching the offensive line at Notre Dame.
"It's nice," Gall said. "I met coach Warinner once and he's a nice guy. I've heard great things about his skill as a coach and it's just kind of good to see that coaches that I knew are going there and not just some guy that I never heard of."
Gall was the recipient of some big news on Tuesday afternoon as he landed his first verbal scholarship offer from the Kentucky Wildcats. The offer from the SEC program caught Gall off guard.
"It was (a relief)," Gall said. "I'm glad that someone believes that I have the skill and ability to play at the next level. I'm sort of surprised that (Kentucky) was my first offer, I had no idea that they were close to offering me."
Gall said he plans to learn more about Kentucky now that the Wildcats have offered and hopes to make it down to Lexington on an unofficial visit this winter.
"Coach Joker Phillips came in to the school today," Gall explained. "They're not allowed to talk to me or anything so my coach told me at lunch that they were going to offer me and gave me a number to call. I called after school and they said they wanted to offer me a scholarship and that they want me to come down and visit."
Kentucky certainly won't be the last program to offer Gall as a couple of programs from the Buckeye State could be close to pulling the trigger.
"My coach said a couple of weeks ago that Bowling Green was on the verge of offering me," he said. "It sounds like Cincinnati is pretty close, (Cincinnati head coach) Butch Jones is supposed to be coming down in the next couple of weeks along with coach (Kerry) Coombs so we'll see how that goes."
