4* DE details decision
The Oregon Duck recruiting class added an important piece of the puzzle on Monday. Central Catholic standout Alex Balducci gave the coaching staff his verbal commitment, adding to the Class of 2012 a defensive end of national stature.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound athlete is the sixth player to verbal to the Ducks' next football recruiting class and their first along the defensive line. Duck Sports Authority spoke with the nation's 13th-ranked strongside defensive end and got his thoughts on the decision.
"It came down to Oregon and Washington," said Balducci. "They are both great schools and I felt the best situation was at Oregon, honestly. Oregon showed a lot of love during the recruiting process, as well as Washington. I feel very comfortable down there at Oregon in every respect."
On Tuesday, Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic coach Steve Pyne spoke with Rivals' Adam Gorney about his players' choice. "I'm not really surprised in the least. I'm surprised he got it over so quick but I'm not really surprised at all that it's Oregon."
DSA asked Balducci why he pulled the trigger when he did. "Things were starting to get really stressful. I didn't want to keep leading these colleges on. I knew where I wanted to go for a while now so why wait and any longer?"
