BREAKOUT WATCH: Dennard ready to start
EAST LANSING - It didn't take the Spartan coaching staff long to realize that they had signed a potential star in the defensive backfield shortly after Darqueze Dennard arrived at Michigan State from tiny Twiggs County Georgia last summer.
And it didn't take Dennard, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback, to break into the playing group as a true freshman. The former two-way Peach State standout played in six games in 2011 and made two starts while senior Chris L. Rucker was serving an indefinite suspension in the middle of the season.
With a year of full year of experience and work in the weight room behind him, the small school star is working as a starter this fall opposite junior Johnny Adams[/b]. Barring injury, Dennard will remain in that role this fall.
