KU advances to Big 12 Title Game
Kansas City -- Facing a double-digit deficit midway through the first half, No. 2 ranked Kansas (31-2; 16-2), looking to advance to Saturdays Big 12 championship game, turned to its two biggest stars. Trailing 10-22 to Colorado with 13:05 remaining in the first half, Marcus and Markieff Morris ignited a 19-4 run and, during that same stretch, scored 17 consecutive points. A three-pointer by Marcus Morris with 7:34 remaining in the first half gave the Jayhawks their first lead of the game. Kansas, which led by six points, 43-37, at intermission, built its lead over Colorado to as many as 18 points in the second half, and held off a late run by the Buffaloes to advance to its second straight Big 12 title game. In all, the Morris twins combined for 40 points and 21 rebounds.
